Covid19 - Filming Your Video Tour

The Government has published guidance for working in other people’s homes during the Covid19 pandemic. It allows, and sets out guidelines for how we should work safely whilst filming your property. Safety is, of course, our overriding priority for both your and our benefit, so we are happy to arrange to film your home under the following conditions, which you should read and acknowledge:

You & your household

We cannot visit any property in which any resident has symptoms of Covid19, has recently been exposed to someone who has Covid19, or who is self isolating. If any member of your household has had symptoms we can only visit once those symptoms have been absent for at least 2 weeks.

One of the key measures to reduce the spread of Covid19 is to minimise exposure to people outside your own household. We therefore require that only 1 adult is present at your property when we visit, and that a minimum of 2 metres distance is maintained throughout our visit.

Preparation

We are likely to be filming several homes each day & therefore need to minimise risk by touching as few areas as possible in each one. This will help protect us from being exposed to the virus, and therefore prevent us from passing it on. For this reason we need you to prepare your home for us by taking these simple steps:

Clean & tidy your home - we won’t be moving anything in your property so please make it as clean & tidy as possible, as though a potential purchaser was coming to view.
Fully open all internal doors so we can access each room without touching door handles. We don’t need to go in cupboards or garages, so leave those doors closed.
Turn all lights on - ceiling & wall lights as well as lamps. Generally speaking the more light we have, the better the quality of the video images

Please do all this before we arrive. The less time we spend at a property, the smaller the risk

Personal Protective Equipment

We will wear protective gloves at every property & will replace those gloves and use hand sanitiser after we leave every property. Please do not ask us to use your gloves or sanitiser - we’ve already got it covered.

We will not wear face masks. We understand that this is a contentious issue, but our reasoning is as follows:

Face masks make little or no difference in terms of preventing catching the virus. The Government advice is that face masks should be worn where social distancing cannot be maintained, and that social distancing is a far more effective method of avoiding the virus. Since we will be staying at least 2 metres away from each other, we should each be safe. (You need to stay out of the way whilst we’re filming anyway, to avoid appearing in the video!)

The problem with face masks is that we would need to touch our faces each time we put them on or take them off, and touching your face after touching contaminated areas is one of the main causes of catching the virus.

I hope you understand the need for this cautious approach. It is for the benefit of us and all of the people we see throughout each day, and should reassure you and others that we take the situation & your safety seriously.

Having covered all of that, our focus will be to produce the best video tour we can to help promote and sell your property. We probably don’t sound like it after all that serious stuff, but we’re actually a pretty friendly bunch & wish you the best of luck with your sale and move, and we look forward to meeting (one of) you!
